1. bring home the bacon	працювати на сім'ю, заробляти, процвітати	Sam’s wife is always displeased with her husband for not bringing home enough bacon.
2. bring (something) home to (someone)	довести (щось) до свідомості (когось)	The teacher tried to bring home to the students the necessity of studying hard before the exams.
3. feel at home	почуватися як вдома	"Come on in and feel at home," Jennet said.
4. until the cows come home	нескінченно довго, допізна	We are going to throw a New Year’s party and stay up until the cows come home.
5. under the table	незаконна (оплата праці чи хабар)	The boy was paid under the table for the work in Miss Crib’s garden.
6. turn the tables on (someone)	помінятися ролями (з будь-ким)	Mark had to turn the tables on his opponent to save himself.
7. put one`s cards on the table	розповісти все без таємниці, відкрити свої карти	I put my cards on the table and told my parents what was worrying me.

12. behind closed doors	за зачиненими дверима, по секрету, потай від інших	The meeting devoted to the financial situation of the firm took place behind closed doors.
